Un-thinkable (I'm ready) by: Alicia Keys has become my new song. It's a nice smooth R&B song with powerful chords and beautiful lyrics. It's about two people who are obviously in love with each other but are afraid to do the "un-thinkable" by becoming a couple. For those of you who are big Chad Michael Murray fans he plays Alicia's lover in the video. There's a really powerful message behind it if you watch closely. This song has got me thinking about interracial love in today's society. I mean, why is it such a big deal? In the end, we're all human beings so why do people feel so much hate when they just happen to see someone walking down the street holding hands with someone of another race? We're in the year 2010 for god sakes, and it's these prejudicial attitudes that are making it hard to move forward. Falling in love is the human condition and we should feel free to date, have relations, and fall in love with anyone that we choose without feeling people starring at us like we're a "traitor" or something. For example, family members giving you the stink eye just because you bring someone to dinner that isn't of the same race. We can't help that we grew up in an environment full of diversity. Seeing interracial couples has become so common to me that it makes no difference. Love is love and life is too short to sacrifice our happiness trying to please and make amends with people's prejudicial and ancient thoughts about love and who we are to love. That's what I took away from this song. For those of you that want to check out the video here it a link. Miss Alicia Keys has done it again.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhuGQUZJot8
